You may turn up on the day, but please note that you may have to wait or come back later when a slot is available.
This will be Fulbourn’s eleventh Repair Cafe, again run by Fulbourn Forum for community action in association with Cambridge Carbon Footprint, with the help of an amazing group of skilled volunteer repairers. As usual, the expertise includes small electrical items, sewing machines, bikes, small mechanical items, jewellery, clothes and fabrics, toys, and ‘bits ‘n’ bobs’.
The aim is to reduce the things that may end up in landfill, and possibly get a second life. There are no promises or guarantees, but repairers are keen to teach visitors how to repair the item themselves (where appropriate), or for them to watch while the repair is undertaken/attempted.
The service is free but a small voluntary donation is very welcome to help cover the costs of the hall and other expenses such as repair equipment. There will be refreshments available all afternoon for a donation. At previous repair cafes more than half of the items brought in were repaired, while advice was given where a full repair was not possible in the time available, or where spare parts were not available on the day.
